your room. Using one wall you can express your style and be a little bold with

Bathroom Bananza- Tiles and Wallpaper edition

This year has showcased the rustic and
vintage look when it comes to interiors. With this in mind it is no wonder there
has also been a subsequent increase of popularity in wallpaper. Wallpaper today
is so vast in style, texture and design that any look or theme can be achieved.
One room which had previously received little attention was the bathroom.
However with the below tips there is no excuse for not having your bathroom as
stylish as any other room in the house.

Half and Half

With this style place your tiles on the bottom half of a wall and paper
on the tops. This way it will be easy to clean and you won’t have to worry
about the odd splash of water having an effect on the wallpaper.

When considering
tiles keep in mind how it will complement the wallpaper. Tiles are so realist
now that choosing a marble effect tile will give you that stunning look that
often times can be passed off as the real thing and won’t leave you mourning
for your bank account.

Feature Wall

If you’re worried or
skeptical about using wallpaper on every wall in the bathroom, try instead
creating a feature wall. This means you can use a more traditional tiling
method but still benefit from that stylish effect of a wallpaper. Try using a skirting board or some beading
between your tiled floors and wallpapered walls to further define the
definition between the two.

Balance

While patterns are
most definitely one of this years biggest trends, sometimes less is more. By all means use a pattern in your wallpaper but perhaps partner it up with a plain tile.

Contrast

However clashing patterns
are somewhat of a craze as of late, be careful to put thought into your contrasting patterns to achieve your desired haphazard look.Try using that half and half look we’ve talked about previously to
complement your beautiful patterned tiles with striking wallpaper.

1. Wet it

You could start by trying to remove the wallpaper by hand without
water. If this fails you will need to spray or steam the paper.

We would recommend
spraying the paper with warm water to help separate it from the wall. The best
method would be to buy a steamer which would cost you about €40 but a spray
bottle will work too .Cover the floors with plastic or a drop cloth, and
generously spritz the entire wall.

2. Scrape it

After letting the water soak in for a few minutes, you can start to
scrape off the paper. If you're still having trouble, you might need to spray
the wall again.

Be careful not scratch the wall underneath..

3. Wash it

Once all the paper is gone, it is time to wash the wall so you can
remove any excess primer or paste. Use a damp a sponge with water and go over
the wall several times. If you don’t wash off the old paste you are going
to have problems when you try to paint or re-wallpaper, so this step is very
important.
